Greenbank, Killin, is the perfect base to explore the Scottish Highlands

The village itself has a number of places to eat, shops and other amenities including a launderette. Greenbank self-catering holiday flat is close to the spectacular Falls of Dochart.

Killin is ideal for touring as it lies about an hour’s drive from Glencoe, Pitlochry, Perth, Stirling and the Trossachs, Inveraray and Oban.

There are also several pleasant walks around the village detailed in a brochure available from various outlets in the village. These include walks along the former trackbed of the Killin and Callendar to Oban Railway featured on the BBC TV series Railway Walks with Julia Bradbury.

Killin also has a 9-hole golf course, a bowling green and a tennis court and there is plenty of excellent hillwalking.

The village lies at the head of Loch Tay and enjoys the spectacular backdrop of the Tarmachan and Ben Lawers mountain range.

The area is also an angler’s paradise with excellent fishing opportunities on both Loch Tay and Loch Earn where ghillies, boat hire and permits are available.

At nearby Ardeonaig, there are also rafting, kayaking and sailing opportunities.

Killin hosts its own Highland Games annually, featuring some of the world’s strongest men in special and traditional Highland events and including Piping, Hill Races and Highland Dancing.
